I proposed (on Kickstarter) to illustrate sentences for a book written by a crowd.
I offer to allow backers to write the sentences I would then illustrate.
I planned to combine the ideas of my backers and turn them into one story (or maybe three shorter stories).
I had ideas already started, but I wanted to get other artist/writers involved in what I think and know will be a fun experiment for all.
The Kickstarter got some attention and funded a day before the deadline. As of today, backers are busy writing their sentences to forward on to me and illustrations will begin as soon as all sentences are received.
The deadline for the finished book is September 2019.
You can preorder here.
And feel free to help spread the news about this awesome project!

My name is Kathe Welch.
I am an artist, art teacher, writer and farmer without a tractor. I finished my first book The Last Monkey in 2017 and I am ready to make the next one. For this book, I need collaborators.
I am proposing to illustrate sentences for you. I will write the sentences or illustrate yours. I will combine the ideas of a bunch of my backers and turn them into one story (or maybe three shorter stories).
I have a few ideas already started, but I want to get some other artist/writers involved in what I think will be a fun experiment for me and hopefully for you.
Now I am looking to you. You decide.

ILLUSTRATED SENTENCES AND A BOOK
A Kickstarter // Make 100 - mini project.
In her description from the main Kickstarter page, Ms. Welch says, “I am illustrating sentences. Mine or yours. I will turn the pile of drawings in to a book. It will totally make sense…”
Ms. Welch has spent the last 15 years as an Art Educator working with students at the middle and high school level in California and Oregon. She has done similar projects with her students and has seen amazing results. She has the ability to combine seemingly random ideas into coherent stories. She uses this skill mostly to draw her students in to using their imagination and building their artistic and critical thinking skills.
This project combines her unique skill set and will help her to achieve a life-long goal of writing and illustrating her books.
